Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

Below you’ll find answers to some of the more common questions I’ve received.

What are your fees?

I offer you the option to set the fee to reflect what you can afford.

This fee will remain fixed during the contracted period of your therapy

How many counselling sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you will need will depend on your unique circumstances and needs. Six to ten sessions are often recommended with a ‘review’ to agree a future plan. Keep in mind that once you start sessions new issues and angles can arise you were not aware existed that you then want to explore. It is of course possible to also see improvements faster than expected.

Will my counselling session be confidential?
Yes, counselling sessions are confidential. The exception would be if you were to pose a danger to yourself or others, in which case the relevant parties would be notified.

Why do I need weekly sessions?
The standard format of weekly sessions helps you make gradual progress to where you want to get to. In some cases, a counsellor will agree to two or more sessions per week if you both deem it beneficial and there is availability.

What happens if there is a rupture in the Therapeutic Relationship?

On occasion, there may be a time when you feel that there is an impasse with your therapist. This simply means that to move forward the problem needs to be talked about.  Often this is sufficient, and the therapy can continue. However, if the client or therapist feels the rupture cannot be repaired an agreement will be reached to end the contracted therapy.
